Ninth Cavalry Youth Cadet Corp
This group of African American young men, ages 14-17, exemplifies buffalo soldiers’ heritage.
Senior Citizens Historical Committee
This committee, consisting of San Antonio African-American citizens ages 75 and older, documents the history of our community.
Buffalo Shooters Shootout
This football contest will take place in the near future.
African-American Extravaganza
This 10-day event celebrates our culture and heritage. Activities may include Sunday church gatherings, college introduction seminars, local leadership lunches, college and church award presentations, parades, football games, fraternity and sorority presentations, concerts, city tours, carnivals, and more.
Historical African American Cemeteries
We will find, record, document, maintain, and publish information about neglected African American graveyards.
Historical Markers and Statues
We will place historical markers and statues to showcase places and people deserving of recognition for the contribution made to African American culture.
Future Projects
Necessity Center
This center on the east side of the city will promote a sense of community and support local businesses. Ideas for the center include:
- Hotel
- Movie theater
- Buffalo soldiers museum
- Eastwood Country Club
- Restaurant
- Community center
- Lease space for shops

We will continue to make recommendations to the city about economic and cultural development. We would like to work with the community to:
